I'm pretty sure that Codename: Kids Next Door was my second fandom, mayyybe third. I don't even think I was thirteen yet when I started watching it, but I absolutely fell in love with the forums. I wasn't into slash yet, but it started off a lot of the preferences I would have for shipping, and really taught me the ropes of how this whole "don't be a dick on the internet" thing works. I know it was a pretty polarising show, but the things that really got me into it were the constant shout-outs, the whimsical animation, and the characters. The characters were great. They were deceptively simple, but underneath, you really got the feeling that

Christ, I feel physically ill. It isn't the fetishistic aspect of it, it's the violation of trust. It's the fact that our friend has told her again and again that she doesn't think of her that way. It's the worry that she might have done something similar with pictures of me. My mother and her mother are friends, too. Fucking hell.
